Before you do so, read this blog to find out what exactly is a webinar and how you can run one successfully in 10 simple steps.

What is a Webinar?

Seminars that are conducted on the web are known as webinars. Also known as online workshops, webinars are an alternative for teleseminars that are much more cost effective for organizations. The great thing about webinars is that they can be broadcasted to a larger number of crowds, who can watch them from the comfort of their own homes. Another benefit of a webinar is that people can participate in the webinar whenever it is convenient for them, be it day or night.

Of course depending on the kind of webinar you plan to hold, it can either be live or recorded. This is the reason why webinars are also very time effective. If you don’t have the time to hold a live seminar, you can always record one and upload it to the website, where customer or prospects can access it whenever they can.
If on the other hand you want to take a more proactive approach, you can always inform the participants of the time of the webinar and then hold a live conference. This will allow you to directly interact with the people and have more control over what message you want to deliver. Here are 10 steps to run a successful webinar.

1. Plan, Research and Select Topic Wisely

Before starting a webinar, there is a lot of planning and researching that you will have to do. The first most important thing that you will need to plan and research is the topic. What s your webinar going to be about? When you have decided on a topic, you will then need to come up with an interesting title and headline. The reason why these need to be creative is because this is the first thing that the audience will see, even before the launch of the webinar, and it has to be intriguing enough to lure them into signing up.

2. Format and Type of Webinar

This is another thing that you will need to research well before deciding; what kind of webinar do you want to create. Do you want to launch a live conference or would you prefer recording a seminar and then uploading it on your website so that participants can view it as per their convenience? Similarly, what is going to be the format of your webinar? Will there be one speaker or 3-4 4 expert presenters? You also have the choice of presenting an interview with an expert, or hold a lecture that is interactive in nature. Choose whichever format best suits your needs.

3. Visuals

Will your webinar have visuals? Presentations, graphics, pictures, clips; what? This needs to be decided and added to the webinar in a way that does not create any problem for the presenter. Keep in mind that it is the slides and presentations that make a webinar interesting and more appealing to the participants, because it is easier to understand.

4. Presenters and Your Helping Team

As soon as you decide on the kind and format of your webinar, start looking for presenters. It is recommended that instead of trying to do everything on your own, you make teams of people who are responsible for individual tasks, like handling all the technical details, writing the subject matter of the seminar, preparing visual aids, like PowerPoint slides etc.
Make sure that your presenters are expert in their field and fully ready to answer any kind of question the participants come up with.

5. Registration

How are people supposed to register for your webinar? You can either use some online tool for registration or create a landing page on your very own business website. People can give their name, their company name and email register. You can set up an online system for payment as well.

6. Question Answer Session

Do you plan to have a question/answer session once the webinar is complete? This is of course only possible when the webinar is live. So make sure that a lot a certain amount of time to the question answer session and inform the audience in advance. Ask them to keep their questions for the end of the session.

7. Web Conferencing Tools

There are many web conferencing tools available that you can use for the preparation of your webinar. Just make sure you research well into this before selecting any one tool, because once you start using the tool, you will have difficulty switching to something else. Depending on your budget, the number of people who will likely be attending, format, and the kind of features that your particular field and webinar needs, you can choose whichever web conferencing tool you like best.

8. Testing Before Running the Webinar

Before you launch the webinar, make sure you do a test drive, just to make sure that all the equipments, software and hardware are functioning properly. This way there will be no last minute disturbances and everything will turn out the way you want.

9. Advertise about the Webinar

Publicizing about the webinar is of utmost importance. The easiest way to do is through personal emails, as well as updating date and timings of the seminar on your website and all social media pages. One more thing that you should do is send a one minute video to all the interested people so that they have an idea of what is in store for them.

10. Launch!

Now that everything has been completed and tested more than once, it is time to launch the webinar. If it is a recording, you can launch it on your website and wait for the response of the participants. If it is live, make sure all the presenters are calm and ready to handle the live feed.

Best of luck!
